CTET 2013: Central Teachers Eligibility Test (CTET) is an exam being conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE). National Council for Teacher Education has fixed some criteria for the appointment of a teacher for classes I to VIII.

So the board CBSE has decided to conduct this exam. The candidates passing this Examination will be eligible for the appointment of a candidate as a teacher. The rationale for including the TET as a minimum qualification for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher is as under:
It would bring national standards and benchmark of teacher quality in the recruitment process;
It would induce teacher education institutions and students from these institutions to further improve their performance standards;
It would send a positive signal to all stakeholders that the Government lays special emphasis on teacher quality.
The candidates passed in this Examination will be awarded with a CTET Certificate which will be valid in all over India.
